Wedding Season Plot
Asha, a New Jersey-based microfinance economist, recently called off her engagement and quit a Wall Street banking position to join a company in the industry.
Suneeta, worried about Asha’s future, puts up a dating profile for her online, against the wishes of her husband Vijay. The pressure to get married is lessened when Asha convinces Ravi to pretend to be dating her at several weddings spread out over the course of the summer, despite the fact that their first date did not go well.
Asha and Ravi develop feelings for one another over time, and Asha finds out that Ravi is actually a famous, affluent DJ known as DJ Spellbound.

Asha gets recruited for an executive position in London with the help of Ravi’s words of encouragement before and during the pitch. Asha’s SMS to her sister Priya about the exciting development is misunderstood as news of Suneeta’s engagement with Ravi.
During a surprise lunch arranged by the families, Asha reveals their falsehood and Ravi reveals that he never finished his degree at MIT and has no plans to pursue a respectable profession.

In 2018, Shiwani Srivastava’s script Wedding Season won the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Final Draft’s Big Break, and the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition, among other awards at other screenwriting contests.
Winning the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition led to her being connected to a Netflix executive and her literary management at Affirmative Entertainment. The sale of Wedding Season to Netflix can be traced back to those initial meetings.

Suraj Sharma and Pallavi Sharda were first revealed as the leads in a March 2021 press release for a Netflix romantic comedy film titled Wedding Season, written by Shiwani Srivastava and directed by Tom Dey. Rizwan Manji and Ari Afsar joined the cast later that month.
The shoot in Toronto, Canada, began on April 19 and wrapped on May 31, 2021. The Gerrard India Bazaar neighborhood and the Lahore Tikka House restaurant both appeared in the film.
