Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, Jimmie Fails, and Ellen Burstyn star as Martha’s family and friends as they deal with her traumatic birth, the death of her baby, and a court case against midwife Eva (Parker). Whom Martha’s mother Elizabeth (Burstyn) blames for the baby’s death.
The film was produced by Martin Scorsese and Sam Levinson, while Howard Shore provided the soundtrack. There are themes of loss and mourning explored in this film, which is a U.S.-Canadian international co-production.
