Meta Platforms plans to invest $600 billion in US infrastructure and jobs over the next three years, including large-scale artificial intelligence data centers, Reuters reported. The company said the effort is part of its race to build the computing power needed to support its AI ambitions.
Meta has rapidly increased its AI spending as it chases the goal of achieving “superintelligence,” a stage where machines surpass human reasoning. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told President Donald Trump during a White House dinner in September that Meta would invest “at least $600 billion” across the country in the coming years.
Race for AI dominance intensifies
During the company’s latest earnings call, Zuckerberg said Meta’s focus on expanding computing capacity is a long-term strategy. “It’s the right approach to aggressively anticipate growth and be ready for the most optimistic scenarios,” he said.
Meta expects significantly higher capital expenditures next year as it continues building new AI data centers. The company recently secured $27 billion in financing from Blue Owl Capital to fund its Louisiana facility, the largest project in its global portfolio.
In October, Meta also announced a $1.5 billion investment in a new data center in Texas, marking its 29th facility worldwide. These expansions are part of Zuckerberg’s broader plan to position Meta at the core of the next wave of AI infrastructure a, sector now defining competition among Big Tech companies.
