Côte d’Ivoire has outlined a comprehensive plan to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions significantly by 2035. The country aims for a 33% unconditional reduction in emissions compared to a business-as-usual trajectory, while targeting a 74% reduction with international support. This commitment comes amid an expected 42% increase in emissions if no additional measures are taken, highlighting the challenge the nation faces.

To achieve these goals, Côte d’Ivoire plans to increase the share of renewable energy, promote electric vehicles, and enhance energy efficiency in industry. The forestry sector is also expected to play a key role by becoming a carbon sink through expanded forested areas. These efforts represent a substantial financial investment, reflecting the country’s commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability.
