Global K-pop phenomenon BTS has announced its return to the stage, revealing plans for a new world tour that will begin in April, following the release of the group’s first studio album in more than three years. The announcement marks the end of a hiatus that saw the group’s seven members complete South Korea’s mandatory military service.
According to the band’s management, the tour will open on April 9 in Goyang, South Korea, before expanding across Asia, the United States and Europe. In total, the tour is set to include 79 concerts, running through July, signaling one of the most extensive global live schedules in recent years for a pop act.
The comeback is closely tied to the release of a new album, scheduled for March 20. While the title has not yet been disclosed, it will be BTS’s first full-length project since 2022’s “Proof.” That release debuted at number one in 18 countries and went on to accumulate approximately 16.7 billion streams worldwide, according to industry data, underscoring the group’s continued dominance even during its break from collective activity.
BTS paused group promotions as members fulfilled military obligations, a requirement for most able-bodied men in South Korea. During that period, individual members pursued solo projects, helping maintain the group’s global visibility while fans awaited a full reunion. The announcement of a new album and tour now confirms that BTS is resuming activities as a complete group.
The band is managed by a label under HYBE, which has previously described BTS’s return as a pivotal moment not only for the company, but also for the global music market. Industry analysts have long pointed to the group’s ability to drive touring demand, streaming numbers and merchandise sales on a scale matched by few contemporary artists.
BTS last toured internationally in 2022, when performances coincided with appearances at major global events, including the Grammy Awards in Las Vegas. Since then, anticipation for a full-scale return has remained high, particularly as the live music sector continues to rebound worldwide.
