Regarding the alleged behind-the-scenes drama with his It Ends With Us co-stars, Brandon Sklenar is speaking out.
“On Tuesday, August 20, I wanted to take a minute and address all this stuff swirling online,” the 34-year-old Sklenar posted on Instagram. “Colleen Hoover and the female members of this ensemble embody optimism, tenacity, and the decision made by women to better their own lives.”
Vilifying the women who gave this movie so much of themselves because they firmly believe in its message seems counterproductive and takes away from the main theme of the movie.
“It is actually the opposite of the point,” he went on. Our goals when creating this video remain unaffected, hopefully, by whatever may or may not have occurred behind the scenes. The amount of hostility that is projected online has been depressing.
“Someone very close” to Sklenar has been “struggling with a relationship that mirrored Lilly’s [sic] closely,” he revealed. (In the movie, Ryle, played by Justin Baldoni, and Lily, played by Blake Lively, are in an abusive relationship.)
“It is my duty to make this a reality and contribute to the continued dissemination of that message,” he stated. She had never heard of the novel until I got involved in this movie. It was at that moment that she perused it. She claims that this movie and Colleen’s book saved her life.
Not a single individual involved in the film’s production, according to Sklenar, “was unaware of the responsibility we had in making this.”
He went on, “A responsibility to all the women who have struggled with looking in the mirror and loving who they see, or who have experienced generational trauma — domestic abuse.” “For the males who need to get their act together and accept accountability for their acts and themselves, this film serves as a brutal reality check.”
It Ends With Us is “meant to inspire,” “validate and recognize,” “instill hope,” and foster “courage” while making “people feel less alone,” according to Sklenar.
In the end, he added, “it’s meant to spread love and awareness.” It is not intended to portray women as the “bad guy” once more; let’s all get past that.
“All I ask is that you ask yourself who it is helping before you spread hate on the internet,” he said in closing. Consider whether any of your beliefs are supported by facts. or if all you want is to have a role in something.
Together, let’s contribute to something greater. a section of a brand-new narrative being produced for women and everyone else worldwide.
The alleged rift between Lively, 36, and Baldoni, 40, has been in the news. Some fans believe that because Baldoni is in attendance at press interviews with Lively, he is supporting Lively; however, others point out that he doesn’t always seem to be happy with her responses, particularly when they touch on the subject of domestic abuse.
Us Weekly discovered earlier this month that Baldoni, who did not participate in any of the group interviews, had brought in crisis PR guru Melissa Nathan.
Lively and Baldoni had “creative differences” during the making of the film, which is based on Hoover’s 2016 book of the same name, an exclusive insider told Us.
The insider claimed earlier this month that “there were two camps on the film — team Blake and team Justin.” “They stopped speaking as a result of this creative conflict, which also set the tone for the unpleasant experience behind the scenes.”
Baldoni, Lively, and the rest of their co-stars have not yet publicly discussed the drama.
