From 1921 until 1925, over sixty members of the Osage tribe were murdered, and the event is told in Killers of the Flower Moon. The Osage Indians of Oklahoma were granted exclusive rights to the state’s vast oil reserves in the late 19th century. The Osage nation, according to its citizens’ ability to generate tens of millions of dollars annually, was widely regarded as one of the world’s wealthiest.

To strengthen his claim to the property, Hale had even persuaded his nephew Ernest Burkhart to wed Mollie Kile, a native Osage woman. It’s likely safe to assume that Scorsese will turn this tale of racism, murder, betrayal, and money into an edgy and dramatic film.

Will Killers of the Flower Moon Be Released in Theaters or on Netflix?
Given Apple’s involvement, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the film to be released on the same day in theaters and on Apple TV+. Fortunately, the tech behemoth is collaborating with Paramount to offer the picture an exclusive theater premiere on October 6.
