The horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, in which A.A. Milne’s beloved teddy bear goes on a murderous rampage, will soon be released in theatres.
Back in May of 2022, when the movie was first announced, it was received with widespread scepticism due to its unbelievable premise, which sees Piglet and Pooh go on a murderous rampage after being abandoned by their friend Christopher Robin.
Filmed after the classic children’s book became available to the public in January 2022, the film was directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and stars Maria Taylor, Amber Doig-Thorne, and Danielle Scott.
About the “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey “Series
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is an upcoming independent horror film written and directed for the first time by Rhys Frake-Waterfield. It is based on and acts as a horror version of A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s Winnie-the-Pooh novels. Craig David Dowsett plays Winnie-the-Pooh and Chris Cordell plays Piglet. Pooh and Piglet, who have turned savage and murderous after Christopher Robin left for college as an adult, attack a group of young women in a lonely cabin.
The film was first unveiled on May 24, 2022, when its concept involving a character with a reputation as a “beloved childhood idol” attracted great notice and was met with mixed opinions. The Walt Disney Company no longer has the exclusive film rights to the characters first described in the 1926 Winnie-the-Pooh book, which entered the public domain in the United States on January 1, 2022. The film was shot during a ten-day period in the Ashdown Forest of East Sussex, England, which was the site for the original book series.
On February 15, 2023, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey will be distributed in theatres for a one-night event via Fathom Events, Altitude Film Distribution, Cineplex Entertainment, and Cinemex. The film will also be released in theatres in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg around the same time.
Release Date of “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey “Series
According to the Hollywood Reporter, on February 15, 2023, Fathom Events will release the slasher horror for a one-day event in hundreds of US theatres, with future intentions to release the picture in the UK, Canada, and Mexico.
The official UK release date will be delayed, so fans will have to wait a little longer.
In May of 2022, when shooting ended, Waterfield requested that post-production be sped up.
“Because of all the press and things, we’re just going to start accelerating the edit and getting it through post production as soon as we can,” he said to Variety. “In addition, checking to see if it’s still edible. It will be one of our top concerns.”

Waterfield told the magazine that filming took place in England in Ashdown Forest, which served as the basis for Milne’s fictional Hundred Acre Wood in the original Winnie the Pooh books, and that the entire production was completed in just 10 days.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey plot
The basic premise appears to be as follows: after Christopher Robin grows up and abandons his childhood toys, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet become bitter in his absence, eating woodland creatures for food and harassing a group of women in a vacation home while they plot their revenge.
It’s safe to say that when Christopher Robin finally returns, there will be some deaths.
Though the film was made after the classic children’s book entered the public domain in January 2022, Disney retains exclusive use of their interpretations of the teddy bear and his friends, so Waterfield had to make adjustments like dressing Piglet in black and dressing Pooh Bear in a lumberjack suit.
‘We’ve tried to be really careful,’ Waterfield assured Variety. We were aware of the distinction between the two, as well as the extent of their copyright and the nature of their actions. Therefore, we restricted the film’s source material to the original 1926 version as much as possible.
Waterfield also had trouble finding the right tone between scary and funny. It’s easy to go the road where nothing is terrifying and it’s just extremely ludicrous and really, like, foolish when you try to execute a film with such a strange notion, he continued. “And we aimed for the middle ground.”
