Early Life

Tilly’s real name is Jennifer Ellen Chan, and she was born in Harbor City, California. She is the eldest child of Canadian educator and former stage actress Patricia Chan and American-born used-car salesman Harry Chan. Her mother was of Irish and Finnish origin, and her father was of Chinese descent. She is one of three siblings; Steve is her eldest sibling and Meg and Rebecca are her younger ones.

Tilly was reared by her mother and stepfather, John Ward, on rural Texada Island in British Columbia after her parents divorced when she was five. Ward’s sister Meg claims that her sibling was a vicious pedophile. While Jennifer’s sister Becky shared the same opinion, she herself remained silent.
