Jessie Buckley, the Future Leda Caruso
Throughout the film, Jessie Buckley appears in flashbacks as a young Leda Caruso.

That’s what she told me, she explained “Our bond consisted solely of asking one other, “What accent are you doing?” and “What Italian dirty words do you already know?” This was the limit of our investigation. The results appear to have justified the effort.”
Lyudmilla Ignatenko in “Chernobyl,” Oreatta Mayflower in “Fargo,” Marya Bolkonskaya in “War and Peace,” and Rose-Lynn Harlan in “Wild Rose” are just a few of Buckley’s most well-known roles.

When we first meet Nina in The Lost Daughter, she is “troubled, drowning, having a rough, dark moment, feeling dissatisfied, bewildered, lost, and invisible,” as Johnson puts it.
The roles of Anastasia in the 50 Shades of Grey film series, Nicole in Our Friend, and Eleanor in The Peanut Butter Falcon are Johnson’s most well-known.
Deed — Paul Mescal
Paul Mescal, known for his role as Joey in Normal People, plays Will, a teenage pool worker on a Greek island who captures the heart of an elderly woman named Leda in The Lost Daughter.
Before he became known as Connell on Hulu’s Normal People, director Maggie Gyllenhaal said that she had hired Mescal in the part of Will.
This is what she remarked: “I was getting cassettes sent to me for Will before the release of Normal People. Plus, as an aspiring actress myself, I watched every single one of those tapes. The tape Paul sent made me go “Whoa.” The existence of Normal People was news to me.
Not that he had done anything to warrant punishment. Even though I was surprised by how young he was, I cast him anyhow since he was such a great performer. The purpose of my meeting with him was merely to introduce myself. That’s my man, I thought.”
The Eminent Professor Hardy, Played by Peter Sarsgaard
Professor Hardy, a scholar of Italian literature played by Peter Sarsgaard, wins the heart of a younger version of Leda.
In an interview with Netflix, Sarsgaard, who is married to director Maggie Gyllenhaal, discussed working with his spouse.
He thought back and said, “Maggie can do anything. She’s being lauded as a screenwriter for this. She could be lauded as a director for this as well. I would actually say that I was most amazed by the prosecutorial element.
She had her hands on every single thing, not compromising the artistic integrity of the thing from the day she started. With casting, with the location, with what the doll looks like, with what the room looked like, hands-on with the music, with
It Was Ed Harris Who Played Lyle.
Lyle, the apartment’s housekeeper, is played by Ed Harris, who also appears in the film as older Leda.
Apollo 13, The Truman Show, The Hours, and Pollock are among Harris’ most well-known cinematic roles.
Harris is a household name thanks to his roles as Miles Roby in Empire Falls and Senator John McCain in Game Change. On HBO’s Westworld, he plays the role of Man in Black right now.
Dagmara Domiczyk as Callie
Dagmara Domiczyk, of Succession, plays Callie, Nina’s pregnant sister-in-law, in The Lost Daughter.
