The Resident Cast: Is All the Member in This Movie Play the Role of Doctor?

Midway through the 2017–18 television season, Fox aired the pilot episode of The Resident, an American medical drama. The series debuted on January 21, 2018.

The series, adapted from Marty Makary’s book Unaccountable, explores the bureaucratic procedures of the healthcare business through the eyes of the staff of Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.

Fox bought the show in 2017 from Showtime; its creators include Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi. A full season of 14 episodes was commissioned by Fox in May 2017.

The season one premiere acted as a curtain raiser for the NFC Championship Game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The show was picked up for a fifth season in May of 2021, and the new season debuted on September 21 of that year.  The show’s sixth season was renewed in May 2022, and it debuted on September 20 of that year.

The Resident Cast

Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry)

Dr. Hawkins begins as a senior resident internist and becomes Chief Resident. Hawkins is intense and difficult to work with, especially for a new doctor.

He represents the resilience needed to survive in the industry. Hawkins marries nurse Nic and had a daughter Gigi. Hawkins loses Nic in season 5 due to a car accident. Season 6 will test his resiliency without her.

Matt Czuchry played Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls. Cary Agos in The Good Wife. Friday Night Lights, Justice League Unlimited, and The 19th Wife are others.

Emily VanCamp as Nic

Conrad Hawkin’s on-and-off girlfriend and wife until her death. Nic, an overqualified nurse who supervises the hospital floor, goes to expensive lengths for her patients. After her death, she won’t return for season 6.

Emily VanCamp plays Emily Thorne on Revenge. She played Sharon Carter in the MCU. She appeared in Winter Soldier and Civil War. Boundaries, Black Irish, and Carriers are her other films.

Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal)

A young, idealistic doctor is optimistic about his career prospects until his first day under senior resident Conrad Hawkins. He makes it obvious that Yale and Harvard’s medicine is different from real-world medicine.
Manish Dayal debuted in Rubicon as Hal. He played Raj Kher in 90210 and Jeet Kumar in Viceroy’s House.

Mina Okafor (Shaunette Renée Wilson)

Mina is a rising star in surgery because she knows a cutting-edge gadget that could redefine surgery for years. Her acute mind and ambition to be the greatest ruffle feathers along her route.

Mina’s presence on the show ends in season 4 when she loses her battle to extend her visa. She’s a Guyanese-born American actor known for Black Panther, Billions, and A Kid Like Jake. She’s in the fifth Indiana Jones film.

Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood)

Bell opens the episode as Chastain Park Memorial Hospital’s Chief of Surgery and CEO, but both positions are threatened after his surgical complication rates double those of other surgeons.

His high surgical fatality rate earns him the nickname “Hands of Death and Destruction” He loses his work after it’s discovered he’s been disguising multiple sclerosis-related tremors in his right hand.

Bruce Greenwood won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for his work as JFK in Thirteen Days. Mad Men, Star Trek, Knots Landing, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle are others.

Lane Hunter (Melina Kanakaredes)

Lane is Georgia’s most sought-after oncologist and the show’s first big villain. Things seem to be going well until it’s discovered she’s behind an intricate health insurance fraud scam including unneeded chemotherapy.

Melina Kanakaredes played Eleni Andros Cooper in the early 1990s. Her film credits include Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Snitch, and 15 Minutes.

August Jeremiah (Malcolm-Jamal Warner)

AJ, a cardiothoracic, general, and trauma surgeon at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, has a dynamic and dramatic personality.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner starred in Reed Between the Lines and Ten Days in the Valley. Theodore Huxtable on The Cosby Show is his most famous role.

Kitt Voss (Jane Leeves)

Kit becomes CEO after Bell is fired. Kit, a former head of orthopedic surgery, must cope with difficult personalities like AJ Austin and Randolph Bell.

Between 1993 and 2004, Jane Leeves played Daphne Moon on Frasier. Hot in Cleveland, and What About Dick? are among her other pieces. event

Barrett Cain (Morris Chestnut)

Cain, a former college football player, replaces Bell as Head of Surgery. Cain’s main goal is to make as much money as possible by breaking the rules. This portion has a lovely exterior.

Morris Chestnut as FBI Agent Will Keaton in The Enemy Within. In Boyz n the Hood and American Horror Story, he played Ricky.

The Resident Plot

THE RESIDENT is a groundbreaking new medical drama that reveals what truly happens, good and bad, in hospitals around the country.

DR. CONRAD HAWKINS (Matt Czuchry, “The Good Wife”) is one of Chastain Park Memorial Hospital’s greatest doctors. Conrad, a third-year student, is charming, arrogant, and unusual.

Along with treating patients, Conrad feels it’s his mission to break first-year residents’ illusions and convert them into actual doctors. Devon’s moral compass and passion for research are his armor.
