Rick (Trace Adkins) and Tammy (Anne Heche), second-generation farmers, are having financial difficulties out in the country.
The dream of passing the land on to their lone son, Luke (Will Peltz), is fading fast. Luke, 27, is gay but hasn’t told his parents yet because he’s afraid of how their conservative values would affect his decision.
Maddy, a local young hairstylist played by Sofia Vassilieva, has recently learned she is pregnant. Despite being twice her age, the baby’s father doesn’t want her to keep the child.
Ambitious chambermaid Ana (Paz Vega) from Mexico is trying to make it big in the United States. Her fiance Carlos (Yancey Arias), an illegal immigrant who crossed the border to be with her, has proposed, and she is preparing to buy a house and marry him.

As the Regional Emergency Manager, Kim (Amy Smart) is tasked with preparing for the worst and ensuring that the people in her region are ready to respond to weather warnings.

Premise
