While Netflix’s newest Korean science fiction offering may not have performed as well as Squid Game or even Hellbound, that hasn’t stopped viewers from wanting more. We were both excited and horrified by the scriptwriter Park Eun-series Kyo’s over the holidays, so we hope he’ll return for at least one more season to continue the story.

The Silent Sea Season’s Plot
A future Earth ravaged by severe desertification has imposed disastrous water rationing measures. Scientist Song Jian (Bae Doona) is chosen to accompany a group of elite soldiers on a mission to the moon. Their last destination is the abandoned Balhae Station, where her sister died five years ago, following an incident that killed 117 researchers. The circumstances behind the incident are unknown.
The team’s mission is to retrieve a mysterious and potentially lethal species and report its findings. The group is led by Gong Yoo’s Han Yun-Jae, a soldier for the Space Agency. Lee Joon’s character, Lieutenant Ryu Tae-Seok of the Ministry of National Defense, stepped up and offered his services.
Through his investigation of the lunar base, Song learns that his superiors have lied about the nature of the mission, the facility, and the cause of the tragedy that killed all of the workers.

It was found that the sample included a unique component that looks like water but replicates like a virus when exposed to living cells. A female with superhuman abilities, who is immune to the effects of the lunar water, attacks the station’s staff. Meanwhile, they must contend with the prospect that members of their own party will turn traitors.
