Marin was the class clown and a singer in local Granada Hills bands as a young man. At California State University, Northridge, he majored in English literature but dropped out eight credits short of graduating in order to relocate to Vancouver, Canada, and evade induction into the Vietnam draft.
Personal Details and Spouse
Around the time he launched his solo career, Marin began amassing what is now considered the largest private collection of Chicano art in the world.
From 2001 through 2007, he coordinated the “Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge” exhibition, which traveled to various major American cities to showcase the work of emerging artists. Awards for his service to the Latino community have earned him a seat on the boards of the Smithsonian Latino Center and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
When she’s not working on art or helping others, Marin can be found on the golf course. With his first two wives, he started a family; in August 2009, he married Natasha, making him a proud father of three.
Credentials and Honors
He is best known for his work with Tommy Chong as one half of the comic duo Cheech & Chong. Three further albums by this duo, “Los Cochinos,” “Big Bambu,” and “Cheech & Chong’s Wedding Album,” all placed in the top five.

In addition, he beat off Anderson Cooper and Aisha Tyler to win 2010’s Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational on “Celebrity Jeopardy!”
Marin has amassed quite a collection of luxurious Malibu, California, properties over the years. In the 1990s, Cheech and his second wife Patti Heid purchased several properties, but by 2009, the couple had divorced. When they were at the height of their power, their primary property was comprised of four individual lots. In 1996, they started buying real estate in Malibu, and in their divorce settlement, Patti ended up with at least two of those houses.
We can assume that Cheech sold one of the remaining properties in the area for $6 million somewhere in the year 2010. It seems that he has sold all four of the houses he had with Patti and is now living in a different Malibu mansion.
