Evil Dead, the cult-classic comedy-horror franchise, is returning with a new bloody story. Evil Dead Rise, a reboot of Sam Raimi’s 1981 demonic possession tale that inspired comedy-horror classics such as the hilarious A Cabin In The Woods and Shaun Of The Dead, is scheduled to bleed our screens in October 2019.
With Raimi returning to produce and Lee Cronin (A Hole In The Ground) chosen to write and direct the newest installment, audiences of the original films hope to see the same hysterical and bizarre horror they’ve come to expect from the franchise in this installment. But what will the plot of the new film be? Will the narrative continue to focus on the rugged antihero, Ash Williams? If you dare to read on, you will find the answers to these and other questions.
What is the Story of Evil Dead Rise?
Evil Dead Rise will leave the cabins for Los Angeles, where two sisters will confront a large number of Deadites in their apartment building. The estranged siblings are reuniting before the Necronomicon destroys the world. So rude.
In the fifth Evil Dead film, road-weary Beth pays a long-overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children by herself in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book in the bowels of Ellie’s building, which gives rise to flesh-possessing demons and forces Beth into a primal struggle for survival as she confronts the most nightmare version of motherhood.
When Will the Movie “Evil Dead Rise” Come Out?
Evil Dead Rise will come out in the United States in 2022, but there isn’t a specific date set yet. It will be released by Universal and HBO. As of October 25th, the remake was being filmed in New Zealand. Lee Cronin tweeted that the show was over and that he was going home to “cut this thing together.” Since the movie is in post-production, there is hope that the exciting, supernatural reboot will come out as soon as the summer of 2022.

Who Will the New Cast in Evil Dead Rise?
Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) will play Ellie, the LA-based mother, and Lily Sullivan (Mental) will play Beth, her sister. Mia Challis (User Not Found) is also listed to play a character named Jessica, while Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher are listed as unnamed characters.
Is There a Trailer for Evil Dead Rise?
Even though there isn’t a trailer yet, Cronin has given a sneak peek at the movie through photos on his Twitter page. With images like his own bloody sneakers, puddles of blood, and chunks of bloody fake flesh, you can get an idea of how this new part of the demonic possession story will go. Fans of the first movies will be happy to hear that the third one is staying true to its bloody roots.
The first movie in the trilogy, The Evil Dead, and its remake from 2013 were both so horribly bloody that they were banned in Finland, Ukraine, and Singapore, among other places. It’s too bad that some people couldn’t see the movies, but in a way, that makes them even better. Cronin said in a social media post that more than 6,500 liters of fake blood were used to make Evil Dead Rise. We will have to wait and see if this new movie will also be banned.
Where Will You Be Able to Watch Evil Dead Rise?
Universal will direct the film to HBO Max in the United States, while it will be released in theatres in the United Kingdom and France. Straight-to-streaming is becoming more common for both large and small productions, as audiences reportedly prefer watching films premiere at home rather than in theatres. Besides, the snacks are much cheaper, and you can spend the rest of the evening exploring your basement for your own haunted relics!
