D.c. Reportedly Wants to Film Another Man of Steel Sequel Starring Henry Cavill!

Fans have been demanding that Henry Cavill returns to the role of Superman in the DCEU ever since cries surfaced for the Snyder Cut. They appear to be on track to achieve their goal.

According to THR, WB Discover has an “intense desire” to see Cavill don the red cape again, and the report’s length implies James Gunn is covertly working on another DC movie. According to reports, a project is looking for authors because they want it to “basically be Man of Steel 2.”

In addition to discussing a prospective Flash sequel and Matt Reeves’ intentions for spin-offs based on Batman’s rogues’ gallery, the report highlights many projects including Superman. It also shows how disorganized WB Discovery is as it searches for its own Kevin Feige to lead the DC Extended Universe.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is alleged to be seeking to define Superman’s destiny in the wake of a power void at DC caused by the upcoming departure of DC president Walter Hamada. THR reports that Johnson is eager to direct a “Black Adam vs. Superman” starring Cavill.

“Absolutely. And that is the premise, “Black Adam will battle Superman, Johnson replied when asked about it. “We are on the cusp of a new era in the DC world.”

Johnson has already shown off the post-credits stinger from Black Adam, which features Henry Cavill, even though the film doesn’t come out until the end of the week. THR reports that Hamada first declined the cameo but Johnson persisted and eventually secured it with the help of Warner Bros. Pictures bosses Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy. This sequence was filmed in the middle of September.

Notably, in July at San Diego Comic-Con, Johnson was booed for appearing to throw doubt on Cavill’s return to the role by remarking, “I don’t know if Black Adam could beat Superman in a battle.” “Let me just say that I think it depends on the actor playing Superman. That’s all I have to say about it for now.”

For his part, Hamada has been a vocal supporter of Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Black Superman story, which will not be part of the DCEU but will still be produced by J.J. Abrams.

Justice League was the last time we saw Cavill’s Superman before the so-called Snyder Cut brought the film back to life. Superman’s place in the DCEU was supposed to be in jeopardy as recently as 2017, but things look up for the Man of Steel now.

Whoever succeeds Hamada in his role at WB Discovery will determine the company’s future. THR claims that De Luca gave the go-ahead for Joker 2, and he may be given a more permanent place in the DC.

The release date for Black Adam has been set for October 21.
