The Pokémon animated series’ most recent story arc, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, is winding down. Pokemon Ultimate Journeys, the English dub of the third season, will premiere on Netflix on October 21. Japanese Pokemon fans, on the other hand, are aware of Ash’s position in the top eight finals, and a new teaser is building anticipation for the championship match.
Do yourself a favor and wait for the English dub before reading this if you don’t want any surprises.
Ash has been on an unrivaled winning streak, defeating every opponent in his path to set up a showdown with Leon,
champion of the Pokemon League in the Galar region. Ash may finally become the best Pokemon trainer ever with his ideal team of Dragonite, Gengar, Lucario, Sirfetch’d, Dracovish, and of course, Pikachu.
The trailer is entirely in Japanese, but it’s clear that Ash’s entire crew has gathered to watch him compete. We only get brief glimpses of the actual final encounter, but it appears that Sirfetch and Pikachu had a hard time facing Leon’s team of tough (and developed) Pokemon. Who will emerge victorious in the Coronation Series is anyone’s guess.
In case you missed it, the latest major plot arc in the Pokémon franchise has centered around the Pokémon World Coronation Series, a worldwide championship that pits trainers from all over the world against one another.

Despite including material from Sword & Shield, the final season of Pokémon Journeys features cameos from characters and Pokemon from across the series’ games and anime.
If Ash Ketchum were to actually win, there has been talking that the show might end up retiring him as the main character.
When the series finale finally airs, Japan will be the first to know. The third and final installment of the showdown will premiere on October 21.
