In London, Rex Orange County Has Been Charged With Sexual Assault

Singer REX ORANGE County, born Alexander O’Connor, has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman six times in June, according to the Sun. The 24-year-old appeared in court in London’s Southwark Crown Court today.

The musician allegedly assaulted the woman twice in the West End on June 1, 2021, and four times the next day, including once in a taxi and three times at his Notting Hill residence. The woman is reportedly older than 16 years old.

After pleading not guilty to the six charges, O’Connor was released on unconditional bail. The provisional trial date has been set for January 3 in court.

A representative for Rex Orange County stated in a statement to Rolling Stone, “Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court.” Due to the ongoing proceedings, he is unable to offer any further commentary.

The singer rose to prominence in 2017 after being featured on the album Flower Boy by Tyler, the Creator. He has released three studio albums and one live album since then. O’Connor canceled the international leg of his summer tour on July 2, citing “unforeseen personal circumstances” without mentioning any legal issues.
