With Ticket to Paradise, Julia Roberts and George Clooney are starting a new adventure. In the new tropical rom-com, the Ocean’s Eleven stars are back and better than ever. They play a divorced couple who are at odds with each other. Oliver Parker is in charge of directing Ticket to Paradise.
He is known for writing and directing Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which came out in 2008. Parker and Daniel Pipski both wrote the script for the movie. Roberts and Clooney, along with Tim Bevans, Eric Fellner, and others, are also producers of the movie.
The story is about two divorced parents who go to Bali to stop their daughter from getting married on the spot. They think she’s wasting her life on love and making the same mistakes they did when they were younger. And to do that, the couple has to come up with a plan to mess up the wedding and probably get it called off. But things don’t go as planned.
Check out what we know about Ticket to Paradise so far before the movie comes out this fall. From the story to the cast and characters to the trailer, you can find out everything you need to know about the film below.
Ticket to Paradise Story
Ticket to Paradise is not one story, but multiple stories that overlap. Initially, it appears to be about two parents attempting to save their daughter from a life-altering error. After five years of marriage and 19 years of being in and out of each other’s lives, Lily’s parents cannot stand the sight of each other. Simply put, they detest being in each other’s company. However, they are working hard to get through this vacation so they can sabotage their child’s wedding, which they believe is inappropriate. There are parallels to the 2022 HBO Max adaptation of Father of the Bride. But there is more to this film than that.
This is also Lily’s story. She is getting married to a guy she just met a few weeks ago. After she graduated, she went to Bali for a while and fell in love with a guy she thinks can make her life perfect. No matter what her parents think, she is in love, and all she wants from them is for them to be at the wedding without any problems. While the parents try to stop the wedding and work together to do so, Lily and Gede go about their lives and get ready for their big day. And seeing how determined they are, her parents might be rethinking their plans, and who knows, things could turn out differently and bring them closer.
Ticket to Paradise’s Release Date
Ticket to Paradise was supposed to come out in the US on September 30, 2022, but that date was changed. Now, the movie is coming out on October 21, 2022, in theatres all over the United States. Australia will get it on September 15, 2022, and the UK will get it on September 16, 2022. As a Universal Pictures movie, Ticket to Paradise should also be able to be streamed on Peacock 45 days after it comes out in theatres.
The Cast of Ticket to Paradise
As of right now, we don’t know much about any of the characters in Ticket to Paradise. But based on what we’ve seen in the trailer and in the ads, here’s a list of the main actors and the roles they’re playing:
The stars of Ticket to Paradise are Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Since Ocean’s Eleven and its follow-up, Ocean’s Twelve, where they played each other’s love interests, the two have been in many movies together. Both Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Money Monster had both of these actors in them.
Lily’s mother is played by Julia Roberts, and her father is played by George Clooney. No more information about them as people has been shown yet. We do know, though, that they are a divorced couple who hate being around each other. They’re only in Bali to stop their daughter from getting married.
In Ticket to Paradise, Clooney and Roberts’ characters’ 25-year-old daughter, Lily, is played by Kaitlyn Dever. The movie also features a reunion of these two Hollywood legends. She met a guy on her graduation trip to Bali and fell in love with him. They decided to get married there, which is why her parents are also there, even though they don’t get along.
Gede, the young man from Bali who Lily loves and wants to marry, is played by Maxime Bouttier. He seems like a nice person, and even Lily’s parents, who have a lot of problems, like him. Billie Lourd plays Lily’s friend Wren Butler, who is in Bali for the wedding with her and Gede.
Lucas Bravo, Rowan Chapman, Sean Lynch, Romi Paulier, Murran Kain, and many more are also in the cast.

Watch the Ticket to Paradise Trailer
In June 2022, Universal Pictures released the official trailer for Ticket to Paradise. At first glance, it looks beautiful and colorful because it takes place on the tropical island of Bali. The almost three-minute trailer shows not only what to expect from the movie, but also the whole storyline.
From the moment they meet on the plane, the couple can’t stop fighting and being passive-aggressive with each other, which is, of course, the basis for these characters. But that is also what makes the story interesting. As they try to “save” their daughter, who is in her 20s, their interactions are funny and sometimes cute, making the characters likable. The trailer makes it clear that Roberts and Clooney, who look just as charming and funny as they did in their last movie together, are the movie’s biggest draw.
Ticket to Paradise was originally supposed to come out in the U.S. on September 30, 2022. Now, it’ll be released on October 21, 2022, all over the world.
