We’re ready to start the next murder mystery right away. When is that going to happen? Here’s what we know so far about Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building.
In the season 2 finale of Only Murders in the Building, we found out how Bunny died. In the end, a lot more was revealed than we thought was possible at first. And, of course, there was a murder at the very end to lead us into the third season.
The good news is that the show will be back. We didn’t have to worry about the ending cliffhanger because the show was renewed before the last episode aired. The three podcasters will be back to work on the case.
We need to know when that will happen now. Also, we want to know who will be in the next season. Here’s what we know so far about Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building.
What Will Season 3 Be About?
The mystery for season 3 is set up in the last episode of season 2. (This is a big spoiler!) The episode jumps ahead one year to the opening night of a Broadway show that Oliver is directing. Even though Ben Glenroy (Rudd) and Charles are the stars of the show, it doesn’t look like they get along. Backstage, when things are getting tense, Charles tells Ben, “Stay away from her” and “I know what you did.” When the curtains come back up a few minutes later, Ben is onstage and seems to be dead.
“It’s going to be a big season, and I think people are going to love Paul,” executive producer Dan Fogelman told Entertainment Tonight.
Hoffman also said that Oliver would get more attention in the third season. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “If season one was more about Mabel and Tim Kono’s emotional storyline and season two was more about Charles and his relationship with his father and himself, I’m very excited to focus on the theatrical side of New York City and also on Oliver and his world.”
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Release Date
We don’t have a premiere date just yet. We can’t really tell what will happen here either. If the show waits as long between Seasons 1 and 2 as it did between Seasons 1 and 2, we could be looking at February 2023. However, this doesn’t seem likely.
We’re more likely to have to wait until late spring or summer of 2023 at the earliest. This is the same as what most streaming shows do.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Cast
Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are likely to come back as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel for the third season. They will play the same roles they played in the first two seasons.
The rest of the cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, but there’s a chance Da’Vine will be in it. Detective Williams is played by Joy Randolph, Will Putnam is played by Ryan Broussard, Lucy is played by Zoe Colletti, Cinda Canning is played by Tina Fey, Howard is played by Michael Cyril Creighton, Teddy Dimas is played by Nathan Lane, and Theo Dimas is played by James Caverly. We’re also excited to see new people in the Arconia.
In the last few minutes of season 2, there are also hints that Paul Rudd will join the cast in season 3. He plays an actor in Oliver’s Broadway show who is likely to set things in motion for the next season. Rudd will definitely be back for season 3, but it’s not clear if he’ll be a regular or just make a few guest appearances, maybe for some flashbacks.
“Paul Rudd made a great entrance into our show’s world at the end of Season 2 as Ben Glenroy. We want to know more about him and see more of him in Season 3, as he is sure to bring up many questions and, as always with our show, many twists!” John Hoffman, one of the creators, told Variety.
