Fans of the supernatural BBC One comedy Ghosts can relax and continue formulating paranormal explanations, as Ghosts BBC Season 4 has been greenlit.
In a podcast episode called “Distraction Pieces,” Mary herself, played by Katy Wix, broke the renewal news. While talking about how she gets her ideas down on paper, Wix quietly dropped the news:
“Spirits could I say that? I’d rather stay out of trouble. There have been several times when I’ve gotten in trouble for making an announcement that wasn’t meant to be made. Here read more.
Actor Announced: Production Ghosts BBC Season 4 Complete
The producers of Ghost expressed their excitement for the renewal, saying: “We are pleased to be returning to Button House for a fourth series. We’ve got a ton of great new tales planned, and we can’t wait to tell you about them.
Director of Comedy Jon Petrie exclaimed, “We can’t wait to return to Ghosts BBC Season 4.” Ghosts is a shining example of BBC Comedy, and we couldn’t be happier to be reuniting with the show’s talented actors and producers as well as the inimitable team at Monumental (Television), who never fail to provide an irreproachable blend of belly laughter and warm fuzzies.
Read on if you’re interested in learning more about the bizarre and often tragic antics of Button House’s inhabitants.
When Might We Expect to See Ghosts BBC Season 4 on Netflix?
The BBC has not yet announced when the show will premiere. If previous seasons are any indication, though, we can probably expect it to premiere in late August or early September of 2022. We can always go back and review the previous seasons and specials in the interim.
Actors or Actresses Be Appearing in Ghosts BBC Season 4?
In all likelihood, most of the original cast will return. Ghosts and co-stars Lolly Adefope and Katy Wix join Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond, all of whom have collaborated with each other on Yonderland, Bill, and Horrible Histories.
Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe), the owners of Button House, will no doubt return. In the backyard, we’re anticipating the return of their annoying next-door neighbors, Barclay and Bunny Beg-Chetwynde (Geoff McGivern and Sophie Thompson).
Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) appeared as Fanny’s mother in the Christmas special. So she could return if we explored Fanny’s tale further, but this is highly unlikely to happen in season four.
Charlotte Ritchie said of working with the cast to Digital Spy, “It’s fantastic. These people are hilarious. Everyone in it has a great sense of humor. Every single one of the actors in that… Extreme gratitude for the opportunity to conduct this work fills me to overflowing.
Some More Characters
While filming Season 4 of Ghosts, Ritchie also joined the cast of You, which has been filming in the London region for Netflix (including at Royal Holloway, University of London, where Surrey Live reported that students posted videos). Alongside Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, and her Ghosts co-stars Simon Farnaby (who cowrote Wonka with Paddington’s Paul King and Mathew Baynton). She will appear in the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel, Wonka.
Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond, along with Farnaby and Baynton, are executive producers on the American adaptation of Ghosts. In which a New York couple inherits a country house in America and the ghosts who once lived there (including hippie Susan, who died trying to befriend a wild bear, and Viking Thorfinn, who died of a lightning strike and is modeled on the British Ghosts’ Robi).
Ghosts BBC Season 4 Has Been Renewed, the Storyline Entail?
Alison’s discovery of her “long lost sister” Lucy was the driving force behind the plot of the third season. With Alison’s money on the line, Lucy’s story eventually leads to a showdown. As far as I could tell, this was the final chapter of that story. Alison and Mike will continue to organize a wide variety of events at Button House next season, from charity work to full-fledged weddings.
In addition, we can anticipate gaining insight into the departed’s past existence (and, more importantly, deaths). From Robin’s early years through Kitty’s tragic demise, there are much more of these characters’ stories to be told.
Digital Spy quotes Ritchie as saying, “We learned a bit more about Kitty’s past, but we didn’t learn, for example, how she died. We have learned more about the Captain’s life, but we still don’t know what caused his untimely demise. We’re aware of Mary, and I for one am glad we’ll never see her gruesome end.
Expectations For Season 4
According to Laurence Rickard, co-creator of Ghosts, “the writing team has been bottling up storyline ideas”. So fans have a lot to look forward to. As for what to expect in season four, Mathew Baynton told Digital Spy, “We know that people are fascinated by finding out the secrets that we still have left. But we also know that once they’re gone, it will be a shame.
So, we’re slowly revealing information in a way that, hopefully, will be entertaining to the audience as much as it is to us. The subsequent season will feature a few more origin stories. It’s safe to assume that one of the mysterious deaths will be solved, but the rest will remain a mystery for the foreseeable future.
Some information about season four has also been released by the BBC. “Button House will be open for business, or at least the gatehouse will be when we return for season four. Is it possible for Alison and Mike to run a successful bed and breakfast, or will the spirits continue to get in the way?
Do You Have Any Kind of Official Trailer I Could Watch?
There is no available trailer for the show at this time. It’s disappointing that neither a release date nor a trailer for the program has been made public thus far, despite the announcement.
Meanwhile, watch the previous one.
The long-running BBC hit Ghosts, featuring “Call the Midwife” star Charlotte Ritchie as a lady with paranormal abilities, has spawned a similar American series.
The producers commented, “We are pleased to be returning to Button House.” when questioned about Season 4 filming taking place there. We’ve got a bunch of great new tales in the works, and we can’t wait to tell you about them.
