Becoming Elizabeth, on the other hand, depicts Elizabeth I as a young woman and the events that shaped her into the queen she became. Starz has released the official synopsis:
By telling the story of England’s most recognizable queen’s early childhood, Becoming Elizabeth is an intriguing read. Elizabeth Tudor was an orphaned teen who became involved in the political and sexual affairs of the English court long before she became king. Henry VIII’s death triggered a serious power struggle because there was no clear heir. After his death, his offspring find themselves as pawns in a power struggle between the royal houses of England and Europe’s major powers.
“As the men around her try to claim Elizabeth’s sovereignty, she strives to manage her own destiny and assume genuine power. Scheming, betrayal, and illicit relationships threaten to bring her down while everyone in the court is on a wheel of fortune that might carry them to great power one moment and the executioner’s block the next. Her interesting and factual path to secure the crown is filled with these events.”
