Ever since the pandemic hit, the technology world has hit a snag. The Mobile World Congress, more popularly known as MWC, has been going down for the past few years. However, in 2022, this massive trade show is back and rumor has it that there will be more than enough growth. But what is exactly going on behind the scenes? Let’s have a look at what people can expect in MWC 2022.
To begin with, MWC 2022 is scheduled to take place from February 28th to March 3rd in Fira Gran Via the city of Barcelona. This is the same place where this grand techfest has been taking place since 2013. In 2020, the MWC was actually canceled and last year’s performance was not something that many people were excited about. However, MWC 2022 is sure to bring back the initial excitement of the place. Even though there are reports of growing concern over the Omicron variant, in all possibilities, the MWC 2022 will continue in Barcelona as previously planned.
Among the many companies that are rumored to appear there, here are a few snippets of information that we have been able to gather.
To begin with, Samsung. While the major company should have taken the step to be the star of the show, so is not the case. The company will be releasing its Samsung Galaxy S22 on 8th February instead of 2aiting for Congress. However, rumor has it that Samsung may drop the Galaxy Tab S8 range which would be the saving grace of the MWC.
On the other hand, Sony, which withdrew from the MWC in 2019 is still going to be out of the whole game. Instead of going offline in the world where Omicron continues to grow, Sony has released an official statement about how it will share all relevant information about new technology through digital means.
Huawei is one manufacturer which has confirmed that they would be present in the MWC 2022. While it is not yet sure what they would bring to the table, rumor has it the follow up to the foldable phones, which were, unfortunately, a fail, and a follow up on the European release of P50 Pro and P50 Pocket might be the center of attention.
Motorola has been a constant at MWC and hopefully, that streak is to be continued. Fans are hoping for a look at Motorola Razr 3 foldable along with its well-known mid-range devices.
Honor, which has been sep3rated from Huawei, may launch the Magic V flagship foldable to its Western audience. OnePlus is soon to come out with the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro and with the shifting of MWC, it is possible that the launch would happen at MWC.
Xiaomi, like Sony, had exited the MWC in 2019. However, unlike the later chances are that the Company would make a grand return. The Xiaomi 12 is yet to be revealed to the Western World and this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
Oppo is one company that has a lot of balls in its court, and it is up to the company to decide which move to make. Their Find X5 series is in development and rumors of the great processor are exciting for fans around the world. While there is no guarantee that the tech would be unveiled to the world, the hope is that people see a glimpse at the very least.
Realme has hinted that it may unveil its 9 Pro+ design very soon and saying it would come out at MWC is not that much to an extent. Here is to hoping for it in MWC 2022.
