In Tuesday’s broadcast of Watch What Happens Life, the star expressed her appreciation for Ariana Grande, her Scream Queens co-star.
Grande, 28, was cast as Glinda in a cinematic adaption of the Broadway musical Wicked, which was declared the week before. Elphaba will be playacted by Cynthia Erivo, and the movie would be helmed by John M. Chu.
Palmer was queried on WWHL what she thought of Grande’s casting.
“Oh my goodness, I was overjoyed for her because guess what? Ariana has really not done much acting from our initial periods, so I’m happy for her to do the same and combine both of the theatre and musical elements “She stated.
Palmer also was queried if she felt fellow Scream Queens co-star, Lea Michele, will be selected as Elphaba.
“I wouldn’t have been shocked at all. I adore Lea, she said. “I haven’t spoken to her in a minute, and now that you’ve mentioned it, I’m like, dude, where is Lea?”
Palmer, Grande, and Michele portrayed Zayday, Hester, and Sonya respectively in Fox’s Scream Queens, which ran for two seasons from 2015 to 2016.
Palmer and her co-host, Queer Eye actor Karamo Brown, discussed the turmoil around Real Housewives of Beverly Hills actress Erika Jayne, who ended the relationship and filed a divorce from her partner, Tom Girardi, in November 2020, on WWHL. Girardi has now been charged with embezzling huge amounts of money from his clients.
Palmer and Brown both thought that Jayne deserved to be treated with greater kindness.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will portray Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, in the long-awaited movie version of the Broadway musical Wicked – and Ariana has indeed been waiting for this part for a while.
On November 5, Variety announced the joyful Wicked casting information, and no one was shocked that Ariana Grande had ended up landing her coveted part. According to EW, a young Ariana was questioned about that what Wicked role she’d really like to portray back in 2013. She said to KiddNation presenter Kidd Kraddick, “Glinda, without any doubt… I think Elphaba’s singing segment would be even more enjoyable, but I’m somewhat of a Glinda.”
She even knows the song lyrics by heart, mirroring the host’s line by line when he tests her.
Fans also discovered a previous tweet from Ariana in 2011, in which she said, “Loved watching Wicked again… great production!” It reminded me how strongly I would like to play Glinda at a certain time in my life! #DreamRole.”
Ariana, in fact, has traditionally been renowned for her theatre kid fame. Her Broadway career began at the age of eight with 13: The Musical, and she also portrayed Penny Pingleton in Hairspray Live! She’s presently a mentor on The Voice.
Ariana verified the casting announcement on Instagram with a series of photos captioned “Thank god.” One of the photos shows flowers that Erivo gave as congrats, along with a letter that reads, “‘Pink complements green.’ Congratulations, Miss A; the part was tailor-made for you, and I look forward to embarking on this musical adventure with you.”
