BAPE & OVO Collaboratoin: The Japanese Brand Teams Up With Drake’s OVO For A Second Collection

Just hours after announcing an impending BAPE x Vans collab, the Japanese brand has now teamed up with Drake’s OVO for a second collection. The newest BAPE x OVO collaboration has a variety of recognized symbols and features the Atlanta-born rapper Drake.”The FW2021 collection contains co-branded trademark items that take inspiration from the fall season, integrating the famous OVO® Owl forest camouflage design and BAPE’s classic patterns,” BAPE posted on Instagram while unveiling the partnership.

Drake’s OVO is one of the most powerful brands in hip-hop, and it is an excellent job that he has done of expanding the brand to a global audience. OVO has maintained a household name in the culture, whether via music or apparel. Having stated that, it should come as no surprise when OVO partners with other major companies for partnerships. For example, over the years, OVO has collaborated with BAPE and published various collections jointly.

Now, it appears that OVO and BAPE are teaming up once more, this time for a Fall/Winter ensemble. There are several pieces that will be included in the collection which can be accessed from the photographs shared on Instagram.  The BAPE x OVO branding is pretty prevalent here, from winter clothes that read “October’s Very Own” to sports jackets and perhaps even t-shirts. Hoodies and sweatpants come in camo, with a repeating pattern of OVO’s owl emblem and a toothy shark on top. BAPE shark balaclavas, long-sleeved tees with the words “APE SHALL NEVER KILL OWL,” and a shirt with a glittering rendition of the wide-eyed bird are among the other items.

Other photographs show a new spin on the traditional BAPE shark hoodie, with a varsity-style OVO spell out now over the hood’s desert camo design.

Future and Amari Bailey have been picked by OVO for the collaboration, and they have had the privilege of modeling some of the items. Furthermore, he planned to attend the famed basketball institution UCLA in 2022 and shot an editorial lookbook with Amari Bailey, a potential star contender in the basketball world. It’s a stunning LOOK BOOK that casts hip-hop artists and future basketball players. As one might expect, this collection will be relatively minimal, and it will almost certainly sell out soon.  The release will be available in BAPE stores and also online.

The collection will be available on Saturday, October 30th, so keep a lookout! It will be available on us.bape.com, bape.com, and octobersveryown.com, as well as in all OVO flagships and select BAPE stores.

On social media, the collection has elicited a range of opinions. On OVO’s Instagram, followers appear to be excited about Future’s participation in the ad. “Seeing Hendrix in OVO has officially made my year,” says one of the top comments. On BAPE’s page, though, viewers had a very different reaction. “I’m going to buy this only to resell to one of these Drake fan guys,” one person said, followed by a comment that simply said “DONDA.”
