The photograph was taken by Kirk Weddle, he worked for many renewed companies/brands such as Coca-Cola, Toshiba, Microsoft, Time, Rolling Stone, and Newsweek. The famous cover was shot in the pool, where Elden was photographed as a naked baby. He claimed that the multi-million selling cover desecrates him and that its a child pornography stunted by the band’s label. He also filed against the band’s art director Robert Fisher, Heather Parry, and producer Guy Oseary and the labels including UMG, Warner Records, and David Geffen’s Geffen Records.
He discloses his situation what he went through due to the cover, that he was harmed with physical manifestations, interference in his normal life growing up, and losing the chances of earning by enjoying life. The photograph was taken when he was a 4-year-old infant, he got the chance through his father Rick Elden who was a friend of the photographer, Weddle. the album got sold over 30 million copies worldwide, which makes the album and its songs very much popular to date. But he talks about how he was paid only $200 and the shooting took place out of nowhere in a pool party in Pasadena, where they didn’t know what exactly was going on.
With all the reports coming through he tells that his parents were against the use of the photo, the lawsuit claimed that Rick Elden never formally agreed to this.
He protested and went on by filing a suit that seeks $150,000 from each of the 17 defendants that is the former band members of Nirvana, record labels, art directors, and other celebrities related to this matter otherwise actions would be taken or damages could be determined in the trial of Los Angeles. he expressed how Kurt Cobain misused the photograph as sexual exploitation which affected him mentally with time being passed. He even said Cobain chose that particular photo instead of the other 50 that has been taken, which basically seemed like he was a ‘sex worker’ grabbing for a billion-dollar showing off his genitalia. He commented on how upset and exasperated he is about the whole situation which is affecting him from everywhere, especially mentally that he has been medicated as well.
He also recreated the picture in his way in the pool back in 2008, when he was 17, and recently in 2016 respecting the Band Nirvana’s 25th anniversary on social media. he even declared that he was paid $200 for the 2016 photoshoot which was the same amount he was paid when he was an infant photographed by Kirk Weddle for the original ‘Nevermind” cover for the Band.
