Samsung has always been a loved smartphone by many people in Europe. Europe has been the largest buyer of Samsung smartphones over the past few decades. But recently a new connection can be seen emerging between Europe and Xiaomi.

This first came into notice when Xiaomi dethroned Samsung from its place and became the most loved phone in Europe. Earlier this fast-emerging brand was able to dethrone Huawei from its position and take over its place. But Huawei has managed to escape from the Top 5 list somehow which is quite disheartening for many fans.

Xiaomi for the first time was able to beat Samsung in the European market. Samsung is no longer the top purchased phone in Europe and struggles to maintain a lead in the market due to low sales and is experiencing a reduction in its shipments.

On the other hand, companies like Apple were able to hold their spot firmly and did not give it up. Still, it isn’t the most beloved phone in Europe but it still is in the Top 5 list.

Due to changes in the market where Huawei exited many lists Xiaomi and other Chinese brands like Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus and Realme have seen this as an opportunity that they cannot miss. It’s the right time for these brands to take up the places of many leading brands in the world and we can clearly see how Xiaomi took advantage of this critical situation and boomed like a master.

Talking about the brand a little bit, Xiaomi is a Chinese multinational electronics company. It was founded on 6th April 2010. The current CEO of Xiaomi is Lei Jun. Xiaomi has three brands under it which are great competition in the market. The three brands include Redmi, Mijia, and POCO. The total net worth of Xiaomi is approximately CN¥291.49 billion or  US$43.36 billion according to 2020.

Xiaomi is a well-established brand and has the potential to compete with Apple also. Xiaomi alone was able to ship a total of 12.7 million units to Europe in the second quarter of 2021. This number was 61.7 % more than what they had shipped last year in the same region and at the same time. On the other hand, Samsung who shipped the most units in 2020 and took first place, in the second quarter of 2021 was able to ship 12 million units. Even though there isn’t a great difference between what Xiaomi shipped and what Samsung shipped during the same period Samsung lost a lot of its shares which added to its loss.

Xiaomi was able to beat Apple as well in the European market and push it to third place. Apple who has a 15.7% growth each year was consistent but could match Xiaomi growth and shipment units in Europe.

Talking about other Chinese brands like Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus, and Realme who are owned by a single company called BBK Electronics saw great growth. In Fact, Oppo and Realme had the largest growth even though their units shipped were quite low compared to Xiaomi. Oppo was able to ship 2.8 million units but had an extraordinary growth of 180 % while Realme shipped only 1.9 million units and had a growth of 1800 %. This growth rate is phenomenal.

On the other hand, Huawei was pushed out of the list due to low sales and growth as well and Vivo was nowhere to be found in the charts. Xiaomi’s growth rate was 67.1 %. While Samsung has a negative growth of -7.0 %.
