Huawei FreeBuds 4 now the picture definitely looks like it is an exact copy of Apple AirPods. But as they say, never judge a book by its cover. So it may look like Apple AirPods but it is nothing of that sort. Unlike Apple AirPods, they have an active noise cancellation feature. Not only that, the AirPods Pro are IEM earphones with a rubber tip that blocks your ear canal. The Huawei Freebuds 4 are hard plastic earphones designed to let an air gap exist between the outside world and your inner ear. Huawei FreeBuds 4 which is a true wireless stereo earbud has been launched in China. The FreeBuds 4 has many features other than the semi-open active noise cancellation, it also comes with a smart audio connection, and touch controls. The Huawei FreeBuds 4 have come in three different colors and is powered by the company’s Kirin A1 processor. They have a claimed battery life of 4 hours with active noise reduction turned off and the battery goes down a bit faster when the feature is turned on. But with the charging case, the earbuds can offer a total battery life of up to 20 hours.
Although the Freebuds 4 looks eerily similar to the original AirPods they do at least separate themselves a little from the AirPods with a much rounder charge case and you can get around four earpiece charge-ups before you will need to plug in the case. But the problem with most earphones like this is that they sit on the cradle of your ear cartilage rather than plugging into your ear canals like corks which makes it seem that they are going to fall out of your ear. But again don’t judge it just by appearance as the correct position of the Huawei FreeBuds 4 can lead for you to feel them start to gradually migrate in your ears and not fall off. These earphones only weigh 4g per piece and the Freebuds 4 are IPx4 water-resistant too, which is good for runners and gym fans.
As stated earlier the Huawei FreeBuds 4 is powered by the Huawei Kirin A1 chip and they use Bluetooth v5.2 that allows them to be connected to two devices at a time and opening the charging case puts them in pairing mode. There is also a compatible app that allows the user to switch between the connected devices manually. Not only that but the FreeBuds 4 comes with 14.3mm moving coil drivers that have a frequency range of up to 40KHz.
Now that’s a lot of features and till now it seems to be good enough and seems that it is worth buying. So now the main question is what is the price of this AirPods lookalike? Huawei FreeBuds 4 are priced at £129.99 whereas the Apple AirPods cost £159.99 which doesn’t have active noise cancellation and the Apple AirPods Pro with active noise cancellation is £189.99. So keeping all factors in mind and even price-wise it is cheaper and better compared to the Apple AirPods but then again there can’t be anything for sure as there may be some features in the AirPods which are lacking by the Freebuds4. So now it is up to you all, my dear readers, to decide which is better for you and whether The brand new Huawei FreeBuds 4 is worth your money.
