We all had heard before how PlayStation had its intentions to break into mobile gaming too but what we didn’t know is that when will that happen because I am sure the moment it does that will create one hell of havoc as everyone will go beyond crazy.
So according to recent reports, Sony is apparently planning to reveal some of its plans for bringing its major IPs to mobile ‘sooner than you might think’, as said by the Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) president and CEO Jim Ryan.
In a recent interview, Jim Ryan touched on and briefed on some of Sony’s plans for mobile and the reasons behind them. According to Ryan, some of the thinking behind the expansion to mobile “is that our IP portfolio is in such a strong state right now, it seems perverse to restrict the enjoyment of it to our existing PlayStation community.”
But Jim was very careful not to reveal the specifics of his plan as he has no intention to provide spoilers for its users. When asked in the interview that whether Sony would seek to acquire studios or whether it would develop in-house expertise on mobile games, he replied, “We are working on a number of models to open up mobile. You’ll see the first fruits of this sooner than you might think.” And that was the point where all the gaming fans and all gamers went crazy because this is quite the big news for them.
So now with this statement already made you all must be wondering what can we exactly expect? Ever since the deleted job listing from April, it seems to now throw some light on PlayStation’s plans for mobile, as calling for a new mobile strategist who would focus on ‘successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile.’ This makes it possible for the users to see mobile-exclusive PlayStation games somewhere down the line, which could mean games that are drawing a lot of attention and interest by the users in the PS5 like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War: Ragnarok. Or we could also see Sony dig back through its catalog of older but popular releases.
Well, it definitely seems that Sony right now has definitely a lot on its plate and we, as the users, definitely can’t be for sure what to expect and what not to because you never know the latest update may be something that none of us could have ever imagined. So as Sony has mobile plans up its sleeve, we’re not planning to see a huge number of exclusive announcements from the publisher during E3 2021 as Sony has already announced that it is sitting out this year’s show which takes place from June 12 to June 15 and is going entirely online for the first time.
That is quite sad news as we all know that E3 2021 is one shining place for brands like Sony but don’t be so disheartened my dear readers as because you are going to witness Sony’s PlayStation’s plan for mobile much ‘sooner than you think’.
