Kate Elizabeth Winslet, I am sure that it’s a name that everyone recognizes. She is a British actress who is popularly known for her work in feature and independent films, particularly period dramas and she has won so many awards some of which are the Academy Award, British Academy Film Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Primetime Emmy Award.
She began her career with her first screen appearance, at the age of 15, in the British television series Dark Season. Then she went on and made her first film debut playing a teenage murderess in Heavenly Creatures. With her constant appearance in various different movies, she had a growing fandom. But soon after with her leading role as Rose DeWitt Bukater in the epic romance Titanic in 1997, had earned her a huge fan base, and not only that but it also earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. And that is the reason why even our generation kids will surely know her. After all, Titanic is one movie which we all have watched at least once.
But other than being a great successful actress she is also an icon for self-belief and an activist who is ready for a change. She has supported The Word Forest Organisation, which works to plant trees, facilitate education, and support a women’s empowerment group in Kenya. She highly supports women’s rights. Like for instance, domestic violence had skyrocketed during the lockdown, so Kate had decided to join the UN Women to encourage people to check in on women who they feel are at risk and even report anything suspicious. She also supports the Ovarian Cancer Action organization where no woman dies of ovarian cancer. Not only that but she is an advocate for disadvantaged children, a founder of the Golden Hat Foundation, which campaigns to shift attitudes towards people with autism spectrum, and even for the charity named Cardboard Citizens where she advocates to change perceptions of homeless people through her theater skills.
So recently L’Oréal Paris has announced Kate Winslet as the global ambassador, as the company and Kate both share the same goal for women which is to ‘never doubt yourself; we’re all worth it.’ Kate has always been passionate about portraying women whose stories have never been told on-screen, and she has only one mission that is returning women to their rightful place in history as she wants equality for everyone in this world.
Her most recent role was Ammonite, which is the untold history of trailblazing fossil hunter Mary Anning, who discovered the most important fossils of the 19th Century but the credit for it was taken by her male peers. Even Delphine Viguier-Hovasse global brand president of L’Oréal Paris said, “Kate Winslet is a true icon – in film and as a strong woman – an empowering voice in our mission at L’Oréal Paris: believe in yourself so the next generation doesn’t doubt it for a moment. With her talent for elevating women’s stories and supporting those without a voice – Kate Winslet shares our reason for being at L’Oréal Paris. To encourage women to know their worth, celebrate their beauty, and dare to be themselves.”
So keeping everything in mind Kate will be the perfect brand ambassador as her motto in life resonates with that of the brand’s purpose. She takes a stand for and shines her stars on causes which are just like the values which L’Oréal Paris stands for which are equal rights, feminism, inclusivity, and sustainability.
