Sony has just announced on its official PlayStation Blog that its latest Ratchet & Clank title, called Ratchet & Clank is back with a bang on your screens. The game is an exciting new take on the Ratchet & Clank franchise. The video shows off lots of humor and lots of fun. The new trailer gives fans a glimpse into the larger backstory of Ratchet and Clank, as well as their two new friends Rivet and Nexus. The video reveals the gang’s future journey to stop Chairman Drek from destroying the galaxy in his quest for an ideal world.
In the seventeen-minute video above, you’ll be introduced to Ratchet and Clank. The dynamic duo is back in a new adventure across the cosmos searching for Insomniac’s most valuable characters. After a decade-long hiatus, Ratchet, and Clank is back with Ratchet & Clank on PS4. Featuring new visuals along with the classic weapons, modes, and mechanics that are synonymous with the franchise, it’s all here and it’s better than ever. Ratchet & Clank isn’t just a remake of the beloved classic. It’s a reimagining that brings you back – and forward – to the best of Ratchet & Clank while adding new, exciting gameplay to the fold. Whether it’s reimagining gameplay from 15 years ago or creating something entirely fresh, Insomniac Games is bringing the funny, the fast-paced action, and the characters that you know and love for an entirely new.
Built and designed for the upcoming PlayStation 5, this new entry in the Ratchet & Clank franchise will be a universe-spanning space epic with over fourteen new alien worlds. Rift apart will let you play as Ratchet, Clank, and even Dr. Nefarious in this all-new adventure. There’s more flexibility in the way you approach puzzle-solving and platforming, and a new skill called Helipak allows you to glide through the air like never before.
Unlike Ratchet, Rivet can’t jump or use his blaster as a weapon. However, she does have the ability to hover across long gaps with her jetpack and can use a unique tool called the Grabbinator to manipulate gravity. Rivet has a completely different playstyle. While Ratchet is a large masculine robot that likes to deal damage up close and personal, Rivet is an agile female android that is able to attack from afar.
Though she doesn’t have a personal ship like Ratchet, it may seem like Rivet can’t keep up with her more popular twin. But don’t be fooled by her small stature—Rivet is a core member of the Polaris Defense Force, trained in flight techniques and equipped with two high-tech gadgets – the Hoverboots that allow Rivet to glide for long distances and attack from above, and Spring-Loaded Boots that propel her forward.
The graphics are exquisite. Each time you smack an enemy with your wrench, it explodes into a splash of bolts and nuts. The rift jumping is so graphically detailed that you can follow each step of Ratchet’s jump through 3-D space. Each area is packed with amazing lighting and detail. Plus, watching Ratchet strike an enemy with his wrench or Kraggon’s body slither off into pieces is extremely satisfying.
