This year if you’re out there in the market looking for a new smartphone, then wait and think about, the newly launched Sony Xperia 1 III. It’s claimed to be the world’s first 4K 120Hz screen smartphone.
The unveiling of Xperia 1 III was done by Sony, during a live stream. Along with it, Xperia 5 III and Xperia 10 III are also revealed.
Arguably, it’s one of the recent top-notch Android phones in the mainstream market. It is carrying the legacy of Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 1 II. Comparatively, Xperia 1 III is not entirely different from its predecessor but there are few changes in the device, details of which we’ll discuss below. And this might make you consider buying Sony’s new flagship smartphone for 2021.
The smartphone was revealed on 14th April 2021, but it is expected in the market anywhere around summer, this year. According to the analysis of tech reviewers, you can buy the smartphone in July(tentatively).
A report by TechRadar states that as of now, Sony confirmed its availability in the US and UK. Xperia 1 III’s sale in Australia is still an ambiguous matter.
Sony hasn’t revealed the price tag for any upcoming device yet. Expect it to be on the affordable – mid-ranged side of the price graph.
Camera: Sony Xperia 1 III is coming up with a triple rear camera, powered by Zeiss optics. Generally, the camera hasn’t made some drastic changes. But, if you’ll go into specifics, then, there are some serious improvements in the camera. The visible change is in the new 12 MP variable telephoto camera. It has the ability to switch between two given focal lengths, 70mm or 105mm. adding to this, it’s utilizing a dual PDAF technology. What’s that? It helps you with the ‘autofocus’ thing.
Processor: Sony Xperia 1 III is loaded with a top-notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. This chipset has powered most of the best smartphones in 2021. Considering the performance of other smartphones in the market with similar chipsets, expect this one to be a powerhouse.
Reportedly, the new smartphone will be featuring either 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. Coming to storage, irrespective of the variant, 256 GB of storage will be provided to you. And, as per the norm, micro SD support will fulfill your wish of increasing the storage capacity in the future.
Battery: The all-new smartphone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery supporting Xperia Adaptive and Qi Wireless charging.
In the UK, Sony Xperia 1 III will support 5G. But, somewhat counterintuitively, it might not be suitable for everyone in the United States as the device doesn’t support mm-Wave 5G technology.
As per the current norms, some US networks, only use sub-6 technology, and that will not be a problem for you. Guess why? Because Xperia 1 III does support that, but your device might not work on the carrier of your choice.
We’re anticipating this smartphone to run on Android 11, but as soon as the new update comes, enjoy Android 12.
