Rutgers university that is most famous for its perfect and on-point reports has stated that South Jersey experiences the fastest sea-level rise on the east coast. The researchers claim that they have been noting the sea level rise at six locations on the east coast from the last 2,000 years and have finally confirmed that the sea level has risen at a much faster rate in the 20th century when compared to other previous eras. The sea level has been rising twice the level from previous eras. South Jersey has experienced the highest sea-level rise among all the other places.

Though it is known that sea level rises from the melting of ice and the warming of the oceans. The reports that were published by the authors of the Journal Nature Communication reported that the sea level rise has been going on at a double rate from 1900 to 2000. The previous reports were from the last 1800 years. Apart from the melting of ice and other factors, the rise in sea level can be due to both local and global factors. Authors have included other reasons too which are geological reasons, groundwater withdrawal, and the ocean dynamics that are very much responsible for the problem.

Describing the condition of South Jersey the researchers claimed that they have investigated in three places which are Cape May Court House, Leeds Point in Galloway Township, and Cheesequake State Park in Middlesex country. Just because the researchers don’t have written historical records for the last 2000 years, therefore, they have considered a statistical model for further research. They have used the records from the salt marshes so as to reconstruct the sea levels in North Jersey.

The most important factor has been the melting of ice and the warming of oceans which has been on a roll for the last 100 years. Though the focus was mostly on the U.S east coast because of its location and the records after its name. But the methods could be applied anywhere so they chose another location.

“By learning how different processes vary over time and contribute to the sea-level change, a more accurate and trust worthy information could be with us”. Says the authors. The rise in the sea level can also be a major factor in the rise of disasters that are related to water. Floods and hurricanes could be on a roll if the sea level rises more than the required level.

Breaking down the sea level to examine the rise and fall is the most common practice that has been inculcated by the researchers has proved to be worthy and successful. Various risk factors that are involved in it have also been noted and taken into consideration. On the global scale, water temperature is considered as the main factor whereas, for the local sale, the budget could be the factor that guides the research. But it has been noted that sea-level rise is not uniform and can vary from place to place or other factors that may be considered.
