12-Year Old Prodigy Heads to Arizona State to Work For Nasa


Alena Wicker, a twelve-year-old intellectual from the city of Arizona has become an inspirational figure for her generation after graduating high school at this age.

She has dreams, goals, and ambitions. She wants to be an engineer and work for NASA.

Reportedly, Alena has recently graduated high school and is currently looking forward to her undergraduate career at Arizona State University. At university, she is intending to major in astronomy, planetary science, and chemistry.

Recently, she got interviewed by 11Alive, regarding her future goals, in which she revealed that she has always been intentional with her studies from a very young age. In the interview, she gave details about why she like NASA so much? And what drives her?

When asked about, why NASA?

She said, “I just had a goal I wanted to get to. I always dreamed of being an engineer at NASA because throughout my life I liked the building.”

When questioned about her future aspirations?

Alena added, “I’ll be driving in one of those future space mobiles by the time that I graduate college. I’m just planning it all as I go. It doesn’t matter what your age or what you’re planning to do. Go for it, dream, then accomplish it.”

Her achievements have made her mom Ms. Daphne McQuarter proud. Her mother has been a constant companion and supports her fully and wants her to go to the highest level possible. “She just had a gift for numbers and Lego and science, so I started nurturing that gift,” the mother said, in a report by 11Alive. According to her mom, Alena had expressed her interest in working for NASA when she was only four. It was at that point when her mother realized that her daughter was gifted, and is capable of making this world a better place, through her talent.

If all goes well, she’ll be done with college at 16-years-old.



 The desire for success is very hard to find at such a young age. At 12 years old, most kids do not even have a clue of what they’re supposed to do but, not for Alena Wicker.

In a hyper-consumer society, where not only kids but adults are seeking nothing else except entertainment. Kids like Alena serve as a beacon of hope.

The story of Alena Wicker is inspirational and countless lessons can be drawn from this.

The young people out there, are the building blocks of society, they are the leaders of tomorrow. If someone tells you that you’re the future, say no, I’m the present, I have things to do right now. Alena could’ve waited for the right moment to come, but no, she knew that deep down inside, there is a passion. What did she do? She realized her potential and acted accordingly.

Parents can also learn from mothers like Daphne McQuarter, most of the time, due to lack of the right parental guidance and support, the world misses out on some talented individuals.
