An unexpected turn of events happened today: PUBG Mobile just announced that all services will be terminated across India starting from the 30th of October of 2020 onward.
This announcement came in through their Facebook page first, announcing that apps such as PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite would be terminated from that day onward.
The Facebook post reads as follows:
This announcement was prompted by the Indian government. Earlier this year the government had made the decision to ban both PUBH Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite. On September 2nd of 2020, the game was banned under Section 69A of thr Information Technology Act of 2009.
All publishing rights for PUBG Mobile are to be returned to rhe owner of the PUBG Intellectual property, according to the Facebook post.
Back in September, they claimed to be looking for others to run the PUBG property in India. This was made obvious by a recent Linkedin job posting calling for a Corperate Development Division Manager in India.
Speculations dictated that new management was required to iperate PUBG Mobile in India. This possibility of PUBG revival in the massive country prompted a slim chance of hope just a few months ago. Now it seems that chance of hope is thwarted.
