Inter Miami acquires both Higuain brothers: DC United Deal Reunites the Higuain Brothers Again

Inter Miami CF soon will have two very skilled Higuains playing for them on the team.

The Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain and his brother Federico are now teammates on the Inter Miami. The Major League Soccer club made a brand new deal Saturday with DC United for their midfield player. $50k was sent by Miami, as general allocation money, for the Gonzalo older brother. His brother is a 35 year-old player who joined United back in March after having played eight seasons with Columbus. “Federico has been a great player in this league. We were thrilled to add more attacking depth, experience and playmaking ability to our roster when this opportunity presented itself,”: said Inter Miami sporting director Paul Mc Donough.

The brothers, Federico at 35 and Gonzalo at 32, haven’t participated on the same field since River Plate, where they both played together in Argentina.

Higuain has scored two goals in the last ten appearances for United, all while playing as a reserve. In 2017 matches he made 60 goals over the total of nine seasons.

DC United Dave Kasper, the general manager, wanted to thank Pipa for his time, commitment and effort overall. Family has persisted to be important to Federico, and his request to be reunited with his brother Gonzalo in Miami was acknowledged through the trade. “We wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his career,” Dave Kasper said.

As two brothers, the Higuains have become the 18th pair that serve as MLS mates. At 32, Gonzalo Higuain spent time in Real Madrid and Napoli and Juventus from 2016 to present day. He loans on Milan, Juve and Chelsea before he parted ways last month. His first goal was quite quick, on Wednesday he scored his first with Inter Miami in the 2-1 victory, against the New York Red Bulls.
