Ke’Shawn Vaughn: out of the game and maybe the rest of the season thanks to a tactical on the chest. Ke’Shawn Vaughn rookie season in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was off to a spectacular start. Due to injury amongst key players he was playing as one of the teams running backs. Specifically, he was playing in the October 8th, 2020 Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears. Ke’Shawn Vaughn during a play just before halftime was tackled by Chicago Bear player. Though he seemed fine after hit he was later examined and removed from the game. Now the question is how severe are his injuries and will they end his season?
Ke’Shawn Vaughn is a newcomer to the NFL though not to American football. As is the case with the majority of NFL players he played on a college team. Specifically, he played most notably for Vanderbilt University where he distinguished himself in his first year. Most notably by scoring no less than 12 touchdowns and rushing a total of 1,244 yards. Those numbers are quite impressive work college sophomore and are just about equivalent to an average NFL player.
He accomplished this in 2018 but chose to finish his senior year in college before playing for the NFL. Ke’Shawn Vaughn 2020 season began when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in round three. This may that he was the 76th player chosen by a team out of over 200 candidates selected. While in the preseason he was on the serve list he was moved to active play by August. Ke’Shawn Vaughn 2020 season was going well. Most key players to not see much time on the field during regular season games. However, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and veteran player injuries left openings in the line. Ke’Shawn Vaughn
plays as a running back in the Buccaneers formations. This means he feels one of three roles on the field; handoff rusher, receiver, or blocker. In the role of blocker running backs simply blocks the other players. When a running back is a handoff rusher, they received the ball directly from quarterback. Then they attempt to run of the field as far as they can before be tackled. Ke’Shawn Vaughn was fulfilling the third role of receiver when he was tackled in the game. A receiver runs down the field and attempts to gain a position to receive the quarterbacks’ pass.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn had just received the past and was in control of the ball. However, he only was able to take three steps before Chicago Bears Kyler Fuller tackled him full force. Specifically, as Ke’Shawn Vaughn was running full speed Kyler Fuller got in front of him and formed a small jump. He timed the jump so as he was going out his shoulder slammed right into Ke’Shawn Vaughn. the result was a powerful and painful it that not Ke’Shawn onto the ground and lose the ball.
It’s important to note, that the tackle was a legal maneuver and no penalties were awarded. Ke’Shawn Vaughn was able to get back up which given the nature of the hit was impressive. It almost looks like he should have been unconscious after that tackle. Unfortunately, shortly after walking off the field he went to the locker room complaining of chest pains. Shortly afterward it was announced that he when it be able to finish the game. The full nature of his injuries have not been reported any chest injury after a blow like that is dangerous.
