The American science- fiction dramedy, The Orville has indeed bagged a fair amount of fanbase with its satirical comedy elements. The television series starring Seth MacFarlen as the lead protagonist Ed Mercer who is an officer in the planetary union’s line of exploratory space vessels. The show set in the contemporary world of 25th Century witnesses the growth of Ed Mercer along with his team as they navigate through everyday problems of life. The show is inspired originally by StarTrek. Let’s find out everything there is to know about “The Orville Season 3.”

The first season released on 10th September 2017 with 12 episodes. The critics did not very well take season 1. However, the show renewed for a second season that released on 30th December 2018 with 14 episodes. To a surprise, the critics appreciated the second season. Initially, both the seasons aired on THE FOX NETWORK. Good news for the fans who have been waiting long enough to see Seth MacFarlen on screen again. Although a slight change for the fans, the show will now be streaming on Hulu. The show was supposed to premiere by the end of 2020, but due to the pandemic, the shooting delayed. However, the show will come back by the end of 2021 with 11 episodes. This time each episode will be streamed for an extra ten minutes to compensate for the reduced number of episodes in SEASON 3.

There has been no official news related to the casting, but we are assuming that the original cast will revive. There is no Orville without Seth as Ed Mercer. However one new member was announced, Anne Winters will be joining the cast as Charly Burke.

  • Adrianne Palickl will play Commander Kelly Grayson
  • Penny Johnson Jerald plays the role of Doctor Claire Finn
  • Scott Grimmes will play Lieutenant Gordon Malloy
  • Peter Macon as Lieutenant Commander Bortus
  • Lee will play Lieutenant John La Marr
  • Mark Jackson as Isaac
  • Jessica Szor will play Lieutenant Talla Keyali

The dosage of drama and comedy will continue along with action this season too. However, we have to wait a little more to get the details of this season. This time we cannot decipher the plot much as not even a trailer or teaser is released and the filming is yet to get done. So far, the producer of the show A. Goodman has promised that the show will contain adventurous space journeys along with more spotlight on Issac and what he did last season. It does not satiate a lot of unanswered questions, but sadly the fans have to wait patiently and stay tuned for more updates about SEASON 3. MacFarlane also told one fan on Twitter that season three will “up the stakes”.

The first season opens up in the fall of 2418 with the scene where Ed finds his wife Kelly in bed with Darulio. Later in 2419, Ed is promoted as the Captain of USS Orville, and Kelly assigned as his First Officer. The two, however, face problems working together because Ed is still not over the fact that Kelly broke his trust.

In due course of time, he learns to work with her and trust her as a friend and teammate. The first season primarily focuses on the missions Ed and his excellent team receives from the Planetary Union and how they battle against their foe, the Krill. The second season sees a much more evolved relation between Ed and Kelly as the team fights more aliens, and more light will shed on Issac’s homeland and people. As conflicting truths reveal, the team once again faces the Krill and discovers a new civilization. The second season ends with a lot of questions and leaves room for more to be seen in SEASON 3.
