“Bodyguard Season 2”: When will Richard Madden be back? Fan Expectations, Updates and everything you need to know!

The British political thriller television series, BODYGUARD, earned critical acclaim and immense audience appraisals for the show. Written by Jade Mercurio, on 26th August 2018 the series first began broadcasting on BBC. Given its enormous viewership, Netflix took it over after striking a deal with BBC for the show’s distribution outside the UK. The 6 episode series revolves around Police Sergeant.

The character of David Budds played by Richard Madden, a Scottish Afghanistan war veteran who is an excellent officer at the Protection Command. After thwarting an attack, he got assigned to protect the Home Secretary named Julia Montague. The series won various awards including the Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series, and Richard Madden received the best actor male for the same.


There is indeed no doubt that BODYGUARD will have another season, but the question is when? Fans are more than eager to see Madden’s fictional character David Budd to come alive again. The release date is not declared yet but the fans can indeed except that a season 2 is happening. In an event in LA, both Jed and Madden have discussed that the series will need more four seasons to ensure that the story ends in the way it deserves while uncovering the truth behind Montague’s death. The production of BODYGUARD SEASON 2 was supposed to begin from 2020 for a 2021 release. Due to the global scenario, there is not much speculation about the release dates for SEASON 2.



Well, it is indeed safe to say that the fans would see more of Richard Madden as he returns as David Budd. This time he would be seen protecting the royal family or a foreign dignitary rather than another politician. Other cast members to revive are –

At the end of Season 1, David agreed to deal with his PTSD problems and to seek counselling. Furthermore, he would be seen back in action for SEASON 2. The story is yet to get discovered, and the fans have to wait for another season packed with political action drama. This time Madden would be seen protecting a Royal Family.


The story revolves around the Police Sergeant David Budd, a war veteran who has PTSD is assigned to protect the Home Secretary, Julia Montague. David, who loathes politicians and mistrusts them, suffers from a moral dilemma when he has to work with Julia. However, as the story progresses, the relation equation changes between David and Julia. The audience thoroughly enjoys the on-screen chemistry between David and Julia. The political series also dwells deep into the controversies and diplomacies that surrounds the government and its agents. In the end, we see that Julia died of a bomb attack designed by Luke Aitkins, who also had the help of Nadia and her cohorts.
