After a well-loved season 3 of the series, fans desired to see Tom Kirkman on screen again. However, the deprivation of the fourth season has left viewers quite concerned.

The widely acclaimed political thriller drama television series, Designated Survivor, created by David Guggenheim, ended with a mere three seasons. It initially aired on ABC for two seasons before Netflix took over the series. Season 3 broadcasted exclusively on Netflix. Netflix’s initial intentions to plan and host a continuation leaves hope in fans for a sequel to the series.

Release Date: Designated Survivor Season 4

The series premiered initially with the first season on September 21, 2016, and season 2 on May 11, 2017. Season 3 aired on the Netflix streaming site in June 2019. Netflix had cancelled arrangements for season 4 for reasons not made public. However, season 3 did not have a conclusive ending and left lots of unanswered doubts within the watchers. This fact makes viewers believe in the existence of a possible sequel to the series.

Some speculate that it might be regarding Tom Kirkman’s opposition to his presidential position. It may focus on Tom’s morals and circumstances, the significant consequences of his actions. Nonetheless, a greater possibility is that the season might just be featuring Leo Kirkman, Tom’s son.

Storyline: Designated Survivor

Tom Kirkman is a relatively insignificant Cabinet member who holds the position of U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. In an unexpected turn of events, all successors to the presential line get murdered. As such, Tom, abruptly, becomes the President of the United States. He is, thus, labelled as the ‘Designated Survivor‘. Now, Tom has to cope with his unwelcomed and precipitous duties. He also has to deal with his inexperience while trying to uncover the truth to the murders.
