Nicholas “Nick” Scott Lachey was born on November 9, 1973, in Harlan, Kentucky, to Cathalyn and John Lackey. Drew Lachey, a singer, and actor, is his sibling.
He attended Cincinnati, Ohio’s School for Creative and Performing Arts before continuing his education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In the autumn of 1992, he enrolled at the University of Southern California.
At a 1998 holiday event, Lachey was introduced to pop vocalist Jessica Simpson by their shared manager. They began dating in January 1999, became engaged in February 2002, and were married in Austin, Texas on October 26, 2002.
After months of rumors in various tabloids, the couple proclaimed their separation in November 2005, and their divorce was finalized in June 2006.
Due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement, Simpson was reportedly required to pay Lachey $12 million in their divorce. Nick had ironically asked Jessica to sign a prenuptial agreement before the wedding. She firmly declined.
In 2006, after Vanessa Minnillo appeared in his “What’s Left of Me” music video, Lachey began dating her. After a few-month separation in 2009, the couple got engaged in November 2010. They were married in 2011 and have three children.
Lachey’s singing career began in the mid-1990s when he and his companion Justin Jeffre began performing at Kings Island. After that, he and Jeffrey joined forces with his brother Drew and Jeff Timmons to form the boy band 98 Degrees.
Motown Records contracted them after music manager Paris D’Jon discovered them. 98 Degrees released the albums “98 Degrees” (1997), “98 Degrees and Rising” (1998), “This Christmas” (1999), “Revelation” (2000), “2.0” (2013), and “Let It Snow” (2017) collectively. From 2003 to 2012, the group was on a lengthy hiatus.
“SoulO” (2003), Lachey’s solo debut album, was a commercial failure. His second album, “What’s Left of Me”, was released in 2006 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
After selling more than 500,000 copies in the United States, the RIAA certified the album as gold.
He departed from Jive Records in June 2010. Subsequently, he released “A Father’s Lullaby” (2013), followed by “Soundtrack of My Life” (2014), which featured cover versions of songs featured on movie soundtracks.
Nick Lachey and his then-wife Jessica Simpson starred in the MTV reality program “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica” during the summer of 2003. It broadcast for three seasons and 41 episodes before concluding in March 2005.
The show’s introductory theme was “This I Swear” by Nick Lachey. In 2004, the pair also appeared in the television special “The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour.”
The seventh season of the WB drama “Charmed” featured Lachey as Leslie St. Clair. He also sang on the popular television series “One Tree Hill” for Red Bedroom Productions.
In 2009, Lachey returned to reality television as the producer of the MTV musical reality program “Taking the Stage,” which chronicled the lives of high school students from the School of Creative and Performing Arts.
Then, from 2009 to 2011, he hosted the NBC singing competition series “The Sing-Off” for seasons one through three. Other shows he has hosted include “Big Morning Buzz Live” on VH1, “America’s Most Musical Family” on Nickelodeon, and “Love is Blind” on Netflix, which he co-hosted with his wife Vanessa.
In addition, he participated in the NBC reality competition series “Stars Earn Stripes” in 2012 and the 25th season of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2017.
