After five successful seasons, the much-anticipated sixth season of the historical American-British fiction and fantasy program Outlander will shortly premiere. The series is based on a book series by American author Diana Gabaldon the same name. Gabaldon has written nine of the planned ten books in the series.
The first season of the show began on Starz on August 9, 2014. It was based on the first book in the Outlander series. In the same way, the second season was based on the second novel, Dragonfly in Amber. The third season, which had 13 episodes, was based on Voyager. The fourth season, which had 13 episodes, was based on The Fiery Cross.
In the same way, the upcoming second season of the show is based on the sixth book in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which was published by Delacorte Press on September 27, 2005. It will show more of the story of Claire, a British combat nurse during World War II, and Jamie Frazer, her husband in the 18th century, as they deal with the chaos and politics of the coming American Revolution.

Expected Plot of the Outlander Season 6
Outlander season 6 still focuses on the Fraser family on Fraser’s Ridge, but the American Civil War is always in the background.
Not only that but there are also a bunch of new people coming. Richard Rankin, who plays Roger MacKenzie, Jamie’s son-in-law, told RadioTimes.com that faith is a big part of season 6: “There will be religious elements in the show, and people’s faith and where it comes from will be questioned.
“Tom Christie has such a strong, religious view of Christianity, and Roger has doubts about how he teaches and keeps the community in line with that view. So you can tell right away that there is going to be some kind of tension between the Christies and the Frasers/MacKenzies.” After being brutally kidnapped and raped at the end of season 5, Claire will continue to fight her demons.
“We started talking about how important it was to see the recovery and the fallout even before we started filming,” Caitriona Balfe told RadioTimes.com. “I’m so glad that our writers were willing to talk about that a lot.
“I also think it’s important that we see a character like Claire, who is often called a “strong female,” to show that even if you look strong on the outside, something like this can really shake you to your core. Claire has always been able to put bad things behind her and move on, but now she has PTSD and makes some mistakes on her way to getting better.
Still, Jamie and Claire will continue to help each other, even though Claire has been through a lot. They are “as in love with each other now as they were from the beginning.”
Brianna, played by Skelton, will also be fighting her demons in upcoming episodes. At the end of season 5, she found out that her attacker was still alive and could still be looking for her.
Skelton told Deadline that Brianna has pretty much been through everything that could happen to a person. “But I know that next season will have a lot more going on, and it will be fun to see what the writers come up with because it’s always great.”
Brianna also found out in the season 5 finale that she has a half-brother named William, and there was a twist that Jamie’s family is not the only one who can travel through time. It’s not clear if these plotlines will get more attention in season 6, but it seems likely that they will.
