After the conclusion of her career in gymnastics, Dawes went on to pursue acting, modeling, and public policy as a professional path. As an actor, she has been seen in the music videos for “Betcha By Golly Wow” by Prince and “We Run This” by Missy Elliott.

On February 3, 2017, Dominique revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage. When she started to bleed excessively, her husband took her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was having a miscarriage. But she waited for the natural process to play out.
