According to Dr. Samuel Lin, a plastic surgeon in Boston, PAH is a “rare” problem that can occur when fat-freezing procedures like CoolSculpting cause fat cells to expand (forming lumps) or reduce too much (leaving a hollow), hence the paradox.

Evangelista remarked, “Not only has this condition wrecked my livelihood, but it has thrown me into a spiral of deep melancholy, tremendous sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing.”

This has led to my becoming a recluse,” Evangelista said.

As a step toward overcoming my embarrassment, I am filing this case and making my situation public. I can’t take it any longer,” she said. Although I may barely recognize myself in the mirror, I still want to leave my house with my head held high.
